THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON

The film’s main character, Benjamin Button who ages in reverse is the only character whom I can never forget, every line he uttered infiltrated in my heart, every situation he had made me cry and made me realized that how discursive your life may be, you must go on, find your way and grab all the opportunities.

        This film is about the story of Benjamin Button who was born on November 18, 1918 with furrow skin, unhealthy body but had a child mind. His mother died after giving birth and his father, Thomas Button abandoned him on the nursing home in New Orleans. Queenie and Mr. Tizzy took care of him and treated him as their own son.

      

  In the year 1925, Benjamin was able to walk and he declared it as a miracle. In 1930, on the celebration of the thanksgiving he met a six year old girl, Daisy whose grandmother lives in nursing home like Benjamin. Later, he worked on a tugboat captained by Mike; in the same year he met Thomas Button but didn’t reveal that he was Benjamin’s father. On that era he still looked like an old man.

        Benjamin had an affair with the British Trade Minister’s wife; Mrs. Elizabeth Abbott in 1941, that December Japan attacked thus Captain Mike volunteered his boat for the U.S Navy. Only two of them survived including Benjamin.

In May 1945, He returned to her mother Queenie and after a few weeks he reunited with Daisy but she left him when she failed to seduced Benjamin. He also reunited with Thomas who was terminally ill that time and revealed that he was Benjamin’s father and before he died, all his wealth belonged to Benjamin.

      

  In 1962, Daisy returned to New Orleans and reunited with Benjamin who was then comparable to her appearance. They went away and lived together until they knew that Queenie passed away.

       

In 1967, Daisy got pregnant and gave birth to a girl named Caroline, after a year Benjamin decided to sell everything he owned and deposited all the money to Caroline’s bank and left them afterward believing that he couldn’t be a father to their baby. He traveled alone in the year 1970 and came back after a decade and found out that Daisy is married. She introduced Benjamin to their child as their family friend. She later went to Benjamin’s hotel and shared their passion to each other. That was the second to the last time they saw each other.

       

In 1990, Daisy was contacted by the social workers told that they found a boy who acted like an old man but physically a preteen. When she went to him, Benjamin didn’t recognize her. Benjamin died in Daisy’s arm, physically an infant but chronologically 84 years of age.

        An incomparable film directed by David Fincher who did a very good job in directing the film thus this received thirteen academy awards nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Art Direction, Best Makeup and Best Visual Effects. They deserve all these awards because they worked hard for it that was validated by the film itself.
